Amsterdamse Bos! A walk with the family, and we stopped at the pancake house in the park.
What children hanging from the roof with a ball and chain on their ankles, or cow waiters have to do with pancakes, I do not know.
Soccer Ball man.
2017
Back to Bruges. We were up early, and all the carriages were gathered in the Burg getting ready for their day.
The fog had yet to burn off.
I spent the entire time staring at this creepy angel, afraid to blink. I backed out of the room, muttering "don't blink, don't blink". Dr. Who has scarred me for life.
The horse head drinking fountain.
Minnewaterpark. The lake of love.
Enough gazing at my future home across the Lake of Love. We had tickets to De Halve Maan Brewery. A brewery has been on this site for 500 years! The current brewery has been in operation since 1856. Their most popular beers are Brugse Zot ("Bruges Fool"), Straffe Hendrik ("Strong Henri"). In 2016, they completed a crowd-sourced 2 mile long pipeline that carries the beer from the brewery to the bottling plant outside the city, eliminating the need to have trucks driven through the narrow, cobblestone streets. The people who helped build the pipeline were repaid with beer. If you invested €7,500 you receive a free beer every day for the rest of your life.
The view from the brewery roof was incredible! And worth the price of admission. Well the view and the beer.
After the tour, came the beer tasting! You were given THREE full-sized beers. One of which would be a high alcohol beer-- your choice of a dubbel beer 9% or Tripel at 11 %.
An extremely rare photo of Dutchboy with a beer in his hand.
One of the men on the tour with us mentioned I had to try this beer. It was super sour. And really nice!
Cozy Belgian Supper.
