Summer on the other side of the pond

Saturday at the beach.  It's a summer time standard for coast dwellers, isn't it? I'm not a coast dweller, or a beach bunny (please note the lack of ears, dislike of sand, fear of water) but even I can appreciate a day in the warm sunshine, drinking a beer and listening to one of my favorite people play music at a beach restaurant in Katwijk, The Netherlands.

The weather was perfect! Sunny, breezy and in the upper 70's.  Most of the Dutch people were treating the weather like it was as hot as a Victoria's Secret model, but I was in long sleeves and it felt perfect!  Bless their hearts.  They would melt in North Carolina humidity!

Don't you just adore their wide beaches?! I'm used to short, scruffy stretches of sand along the East coast of the United States.

Divas, the band that my brother-in-law Peter plays bass for, was preforming at Key West in Katwijk.  The band has been together for longer than they probably want me to tell you!

Here's a sample of their music!

We enjoyed the afternoon, and watched the sunset on a perfect last day of summertime.
