The Trip that was: October 6, 2016/2017/2018/2019

2016

Cannenburgh Castle, Vassen.

Making friends with Maarten van Rossum, the feared general of the Gelderland Army, who built the castle in 1543, but didn't live to see it completed. He was evidently quite wicked and cruel.  I've always had a thing for bad boys.

See?? He's not so bad.

My bad boy, showing you the way to the restrooms.

A reminder that we always have to fight the evil within.

2017

Another trip to my favorite museum, Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem! This time, they had a really cool set up with costumes! You could choose your props and costume, line up your smartphone in the a slot, and pose in a special set for a photos.  Dutchboy and I had a lot of fun!

All that dramatic posing left me thirsty!  We popped over to Brinkmann's Grand Cafe. Leffe Dubbel for me.

Then back outside for a stroll around the Grote Markt

A different view of Haarlem.

Bus 356, leaving Haarlem for Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena Via Amstelveen Bus station.

2018
Heading back to Amstelveen from Oudemirdum, but first we stopped for coffee and brief look around Lemmer!  SO PRETTY! We had coffee by the canal, and watched boats pass. Idyllic.

Hervormde Kerk, Lemmer.  That's a Dutch Reformed Church for those who want to know!

 2019

The Museum de Lakenhal reopened after being closed for a number of years for renovation.  Apparently, I was too awestruck to take a lot of photos.

And since it was a cold and windy day, we went to Katwijk! Nothing like the wind off the North Sea to warm your bones! And Dutchboy and I had the grand opportunity to pose with a giant pumpkin!

Short and sweet, today!

Tot Ziens!
