The Trip that was: September 15, 2008 /2012/ 2014

2008
A few snapshots from a canal cruise through Amsterdam.  The clock tower from the Hotel Americain. A view down the line of bridges, St. George Slaying the Dragon statue found at Herengracht 581, and finally Magere Brug (The Skinny bridge)

 2012

Our second day of hiking in the Cinque Terre!  This time we're heading to Monterosso al Mare.  It's the largest and most touristy of the towns.  Lots of hotels and a large beach.  The touristy aspect is one reason I chose NOT to stay there!

Looking back at Vernazza from the top of  hill.

The trails on this part of the hike were steep and fairly narrow.  And there are no guard rails or anything to keep you from going over the edge.  It's straight down to that beautiful blue water.
Looking ahead to Monterosso.
Narrow trails. See?

We decided to take the ferry back to Vernazza, so we could see the see towns from the sea.  What a lovely view. Even if it was slightly terrifying for me!!!

2014
Utrecht, and it's amazing Dom Tower.

The canals of Utrecht. So beautiful! Utrecht has wharfs, with warehouses built along it's canal.  You can walk along the wharf at water's edge.  The "cellar" warehouses have been turned into restaurants.  It's so lovely to sit on the canal front and have a nice meal.  It make Utrecht unique and very special.
